Waiting for the true independence!!
“......At the stroke of the Midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”
These are famous words of Independent India.
But is this the kind of independence our fighters died for. Is this the India, which was dreamt of?
What kind of independence is it? We take out our patriotism on 15 Aug n 26 Jan every year. While the rest of the year is shut of in cupboards. We have more interest in what’s happening in cricket than in what’s happening to the country.
Everyone will somehow show their patriotism by donning tricolor 2mrw..........its good that we are happy about our country n proudly show. But where is the true spirit??
Why can’t we free ourselves of prejudices, the hate, the differences we are living with.
Why we still cant accept people for what they are.
Right since the childhood we learn............Divided we stand united! Where is that unity? Before we recognize our fellow companions as Indians we recognize them as Hindu, Sikh, Muslim or Christian. We still will ask what caste the other person belongs to. We’ll still size an individual on the money and assets one owns.
Perhaps being Indian is not good enough anymore for us.
After 60 years of Independence we are still bound in chains of our mentality.........where no one is good enough! OR maybe 60 years is just not enough time.........to learn to respect women, to learn to respect all religions, to come to terms with the fact that all of us are humans after all!
It looks like we need another 60 years to learn the true meaning of Independence. Lets hope its not too late when we finally do learn it!
Just take one minute and look at everyone with respect and love.................the world will look so much better!!
